    Preamble
    The PG Department of Zoology [Self Financing] and IQAC conducted the webinar on �Hepatitis: Know and Act� for all students and teachers through online platform (Google Meet) at 10.30 am on 4th Aug, 2022. The webinar was conducted to create general awareness among students on Hepatitis on the occasion of �World Hepatitis Day� celebrated ever year on 28th of July. Dr. Bindu R, Principal SN College, Alathur gave all the support and coordination to conduct the webinar. Dr. Lalitha R, faculty PG Department of Zoology introduced the speaker to the audience. Totally 22 participants participated in the webinar, out of which 19 were PG students of our college. Dr. Rakesh Kumar, MBBS, presented the talk on Hepatitis. Due to his busy schedule he could not come live for the presentation hence a recorded talk on the topic was played in the webinar. Webinar was coordinated well by Ms. Sreelekha B faculty of PG Department Zoology.

    Content of Webinar
    Dr. Rakesh Kumar, started the presentation by introducing himself to the audience and thanking the organization for giving the opportunity for presentation. He introduced the topic by starting with basic morphology and anatomy of liver and then the definition of hepatitis. Following this, prevalence of the disease in different age groups of people and seasonal variations of the disease was presented taken from recent research publications. Further all different types of viral hepatitis (Hepatitis A, B, C, D and E) their causes, transmission, diagnosis, prevention and treatment was discussed. He also mentioned and discussed other major liver disorders like alcoholic fatty liver and non alcoholic fatty liver disorder. Alcohol consumption is also one of the major cause of alcoholic hepatitis. He extended that certain autoimmune factors and congenital liver secretion can also be the cause of liver disorders. Factors like free radicals and prolonged hepatitis infection may lead to liver cirrhosis and slowly lead to cancer. During the presentation he shared his experience of himself when he got infected with Hepatitis B during his student life and symptoms he went through as the disease progressed. These incidences really created an interest in audience to listen to the talk.

    At the end of his presentation he strongly recommended the audience to follow good hygienic and healthy life style with healthy food habit and everyday workouts or exercise, which can prevent the development of hepatitis disease and helps to maintain healthy liver. He ended the talk by a message �Prevention is better than cure�. He also extended that he would be happy to answer the queries of students, comments about the talk and give necessary tips regarding how to maintain general good health if they contact him personally. He provided his contact details for the same during the presentation.

    Oral feedback was collected from the audience at the end of the presentation. Reply was that there was a slight voice clarity of the video talk presented otherwise the talk was highly informative and helpful in creating awareness about hepatitis.
