Student politics is essential, and a desirable part of university life. Student activism can bring about concrete changes in our lives; political, environmental, economic as well as social. However, the spurt in the incidence of violence, strikes and protest movements in the educational institutions raises some pertinent questions. Do we really need politics in our educational institutions? And more importantly, what kind of politics do we want? and that was the hot topic of the open debate session.
