Film Screening (Jan 30, 2025)

The PG Department of English, in association with Film Club, organized a special screening of the Oscar-winning documentary The Elephant Whisperers was held at Gurukripa Hall, SN College, Alathur, on January 30, 2025 at 2 PM, providing an enriching cinematic experience for students and faculty. The event aimed to highlight the deep bond between humans and elephants, as well as the significance of conservation efforts.

The documentary, directed by Kartiki Gonsalves, portrays the heartwarming story of Bomman and Bellie, a couple from Tamil Nadu, who dedicate their lives to nurturing an orphaned elephant calf. The screening sparked insightful discussions on wildlife conservation, indigenous communities, and environmental sustainability.

Students actively participated in a post-screening discussion, sharing their perspectives on the film’s themes and cinematography. The event successfully raised awareness about the delicate relationship between humans and nature and the need for ethical conservation practices.
