Debate: “Has AI Really Empowered Women?”

The PG Department of English, Sree Narayana College, Alathur, in association with IQAC, Debate Club, Quiz Club, Literary Club, and Gender Forum, organized a thought-provoking debate on the topic “Has AI Really Empowered Women?” on March 18, 2025, at Gurukripa Hall.

The event, moderated by Anupama and Nikita (II MA English), witnessed active participation from students and faculty members. The debate explored the impact of Artificial Intelligence on women’s empowerment, addressing aspects such as workplace opportunities, digital inclusion, gender bias in AI algorithms, and ethical concerns.

Participants presented diverse perspectives, with some highlighting AI’s role in breaking barriers and enabling opportunities, while others critically examined issues like algorithmic bias and job displacement. The discussion was engaging and insightful, encouraging critical thinking among attendees.

The debate concluded with an open-floor discussion, where students and faculty shared their views, and a final note from the Debate Club coordinator Dr Poornima PL, Assistant Professor of English, making the session an enriching experience for all.
