The conference, themed “Colonial Historiography: Language, Gender and Performance in Early Modern Keralam,” aims to explore the impact of colonial encounters on the socio-political and cultural landscape of Keralam and examine the changing forms of representation through media, culture and historical narratives.

The conference will provide a platform for scholars, teachers, researchers and students to engage with a wide range of themes, including colonial archives, memory and counter-histories, language and power, multilingualism and translation, print culture, gender and social history, performance and community identity, decolonising historiography, digital humanities, cultural exchange, pedagogy, reform and resistance, and film and visual histories.

The organisers have invited paper submissions from interested participants. Abstracts of 250 words along with four or five keywords must be submitted by 31 August 2026. The acceptance notification will be issued on 2 September, while the deadline for submitting full papers is 10 September 2026. Presentations may be made offline, online or in absentia.

The event is being organised under the guidance of Principal Dr. Praveena Vijayan, with Dr. S. Dhiva representing IQAC and Prof. (Dr.) Binu Mol M. representing the IKS Cell.
