Consumer Club at Sree Narayana College, Alathur Hosts Awareness Session on Consumer Rights and the Consumer Protection Act, 2019

ALATHUR — The Consumer Club, operating under the Department of Commerce and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Sree Narayana College, Alathur, conducted an enlightening awareness programme titled “Consumer Rights Awareness Programme” on Wednesday, 23rd September 2026.

Held at the campus’s Gurukripa Hall from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM, the workshop focused on educating students about consumer entitlements, legal protections, and smart purchasing behaviors under the core message: “Know Your Rights… Make Better Choices.”

Key Highlights & Session Insights

• Legal Framework & Key Legislation: The session featured Adv. Sarannya K as the special resource person. She delivered a comprehensive talk on the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, outlining how the updated legislation addresses modern market challenges, e-commerce, and product liability.
• Core Pillars of Consumer Protection: The presentation emphasized fundamental legal safeguards, including fair trade practices, product safety standards, price transparency, and formal mechanisms for grievance redressal.
• Empowering the Student Body: Students were encouraged to recognize unfair commercial practices and actively assert their consumer rights when purchasing goods or availing services in both physical and digital marketplaces.
