Department of Chemistry at Sree Narayana College, Alathur Organizes FYUGP Orientation Session ‘Understanding the Pathways, Opportunities, and Possibilities’

ALATHUR — As part of the ongoing academic orientation initiatives for newly admitted undergraduate students, the Department of Chemistry at Sree Narayana College, Alathur, in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), organized a specialized orientation session titled “Orientation on FYUG Programme: Understanding the Pathways, Opportunities, and Possibilities” on Tuesday, 22nd September 2026.

The session was held at Gurukripa Hall starting at 10:30 AM, providing first-year students with a comprehensive breakdown of the newly implemented Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP) framework.

Key Highlights & Academic Insights

• Expert Guidance: The session featured Dr. Ranjini R. Varma, Associate Professor and College Level FYUGP Coordinator from the Post Graduate and Research Department of Commerce at Sree Narayana College, Nattika, as the principal resource person.
• FYUGP Framework Breakdown: Dr. Varma addressed the structural transformations under the FYUGP system, explaining the core pathways available to students—including the 3-Year UG Degree, 4-Year UG Degree (Honours), and 4-Year UG Degree (Honours with Research).
• Credit System & Interdisciplinary Options: The talk clarified credit structures, major-minor combinations, multidisciplinary courses (MDC), skill enhancement courses (SEC), ability enhancement courses (AEC), and value-added courses (VAC).
• Future Prospects: Students learned about multiple entry-exit options, credit transfer mechanisms, advanced research avenues, and how the FYUGP degree stream simplifies access to one-year master’s programs and direct PhD admissions.
