The Department of Mathematics of Sree Narayana College, Alathur, in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), is set to organize an “Orientation in Mathematics” programme for first-year UG and PG students on 8 September 2026 (Tuesday) at 10.30 a.m. at Gurukripa Hall.
The programme is intended to provide newly admitted students with an introduction to the academic environment of higher education and help them develop a better understanding of the scope and importance of Mathematics in their undergraduate and postgraduate studies.
Narayana Prasad M, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics, Government College, Chittur, will be the speaker for the programme. He is expected to share insights that will help students approach the subject with greater confidence and develop interest in mathematical learning.
The programme will be conducted under the guidance of Dr. Praveena Vijayan, Principal, V. Devadas, Head of the Department of Mathematics, and Dr. Dhiva S., IQAC Coordinator. Sucharitha R. S. will serve as the programme coordinator, with the support of the organizing committee comprising Krishnaprabha R., Vaishnavi S., Nandana K. Vasudevan, Archana S. and Aiswarya K.
The orientation programme is expected to provide an encouraging beginning for first-year students and help them become familiar with the academic expectations and opportunities associated with higher studies in Mathematics.
The Department of Mathematics at Sree Narayana College has also been actively conducting academic orientation programmes and enrichment activities for students. The college’s mathematics department has previously organized orientation programmes on topics such as calculus and has continued to promote subject-based academic development. (SN College Alathur)
