Medical Coding Awareness Session Held for Botany Students at Sree Narayana College

Alathur, June 23: The Department of Botany of Sree Narayana College, Alathur, in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), organized an orientation programme on “Introduction to Medical Coding for Botany Students” on Tuesday at the Botany Laboratory.

The session was led by Dipin C., Marketing Manager, Antons Medicode, who introduced students to the rapidly growing field of medical coding and highlighted the career opportunities available for life science graduates in the healthcare industry. He explained the fundamentals of medical coding, the role of medical coders in hospitals and healthcare organizations, and the various employment prospects in India and abroad.

The programme aimed to familiarize Botany students with emerging career avenues beyond traditional academic and research fields. Students actively participated in the interactive session and clarified their doubts regarding training, certification, and career prospects in the medical coding sector.

The programme was conducted under the leadership of Principal Dr. Praveena Vijayan, with the guidance of Dr. R. Bindu, Head of the Department of Botany, and Dr. S. Dhiva, IQAC Coordinator. The organizing committee comprising Dr. Shereena J., Dr. Binumol M., and Dr. Hansiya V.S. coordinated the programme.

Faculty members and students appreciated the initiative, noting that such industry-oriented sessions help students understand contemporary career opportunities and equip them with the knowledge required to make informed career choices. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks and a renewed commitment to organizing more skill-oriented and career guidance programmes for students.
