Odes and Odysseys – Remembering P.B Shelley and S.K Pottekkatt

On August 30, 2024, the PG Department of English at Sree Narayana College Alathur organized an event titled “Odes and Odysseys” to commemorate the literary contributions of Percy Bysshe Shelley and S. K. Pottekkatt. The event was held at Gurukripa Hall and ran from 01:30 PM to 3:30 PM. The program commenced with the MCs, Vishal and Hridya from III FE, welcoming the audience and introducing the event. Sumayya, also from III FE, delivered a warm and engaging welcome speech, setting the tone for the afternoon.

Following the introductions, the audience was treated to documentary screenings on both P. B. Shelley and S. K. Pottekkatt, offering an insightful look into the lives and works of these two literary giants. The event also featured remarks by the Head of the Department, Miss Remya Rajan, who emphasized the importance of understanding and celebrating the contributions of such influential writers.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Athira from II FE, expressing gratitude to all those who contributed to the event’s success. A travelogue writing competition was also held as part of the event, encouraging students to express their creativity and engage with the themes explored by S. K. Pottekkatt in his works.
