Alathur: As part of the Independence Day 2026 celebrations, the Department of Political Science and Economics, in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Sree Narayana College, Alathur, is organizing an Interdepartmental Speech Competition on 13 August 2026 (Thursday) at 10:00 a.m. in the Economics Classroom.
The competition will be conducted on the thought-provoking theme “Freedom in the 21st Century”, providing students with an opportunity to reflect on the evolving meaning of freedom in today’s rapidly changing world. Participants are expected to explore various dimensions of freedom, including democracy, equality, human rights, digital freedom, responsible citizenship, and the role of youth in safeguarding the values of an independent nation.
The programme aims to inspire students to develop critical thinking, effective public speaking skills, and a deeper appreciation of the ideals of liberty, justice, and national unity. It also seeks to encourage meaningful discussions on contemporary challenges and the responsibilities of citizens in strengthening democratic values.
Students interested in participating are requested to register through the Google Form on or before 10 August 2026. Participation is free of cost, and attractive prizes will be awarded to the winners.
The college management, IQAC, and the organizing department have invited all students to participate enthusiastically and make the event a grand success. The programme is expected to serve as a vibrant platform for young minds to express their ideas, celebrate the spirit of Independence Day, and reaffirm their commitment to the progress and unity of the nation.
