The Jeevani Counselling Centre for Student Well-being at Sree Narayana College, Alathur, in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), is organising a Suicide Prevention Awareness Programme for UG first-year students on 18 September 2026 at 10.30 a.m. at the College Auditorium.
The awareness class will focus on “Recognising Emotional Distress and Building Hope: Promoting Suicide Prevention Among College Students.” The programme aims to encourage students to recognise signs of emotional distress, develop awareness about mental well-being, and understand the importance of seeking timely support.
Dr. Anirudh B, Consultant Psychiatrist associated with Margadeepthi, Palakkad, and Mehac Foundation, Cochin, will serve as the Resource Person. The session is expected to provide students with practical guidance on emotional well-being, supportive communication and accessing appropriate professional help when needed.
The programme is being organised under the guidance of Dr. Praveena Vijayan, Principal, and Dr. S. Dhiva, IQAC Coordinator. Divya H, Jeevani Coordinator, and Naurin Jahan A, Jeevani College Psychologist, are part of the organising team.
The initiative reflects the college’s commitment to promoting student well-being, mental health awareness and a supportive campus environment. The awareness session will provide UG first-year students with an opportunity to engage in an open and informed discussion on emotional health and suicide prevention.
