The Department of Zoology, Sree Narayana College, Alathur, celebrated World Environment Day on 05 June 2026 with great enthusiasm and commitment to environmental conservation. The programme aimed to create awareness among students about the importance of protecting the environment and promoting sustainable living practices.

The programme was formally inaugurated by Dr. Praveena Vijayan, Principal In-charge, who highlighted the significance of environmental conservation and urged the students to become responsible custodians of nature. In her inaugural address, she emphasized the need for collective efforts to protect biodiversity and preserve natural resources for future generations.

As part of the celebration, the department organized a creative activity titled “Globe of Green Thoughts.” Students enthusiastically participated by posting inspiring quotes and messages on environmental protection in an image of the globe. The activity encouraged students to express their environmental concerns and commitments in a creative and meaningful way.

An Environmental Protection Pledge was also administered, in which students and faculty members pledged to conserve natural resources, reduce pollution, protect biodiversity, and adopt eco-friendly practices in their daily lives.

The programme witnessed active participation from students and faculty members of the department. The celebration successfully instilled a sense of environmental responsibility among the participants and reinforced the message that protecting nature is a shared duty.

The programme concluded with a collective message:

“Together, let us protect our Earth for a better tomorrow.”
