World Environment Day is observed every year on June 5th to raise awareness and take action on pressing environmental issues. It serves as a platform to encourage global initiatives to protect our environment. Activities range from tree planting to clean-up campaigns, promoting sustainable practices and policies. The theme for this year’s Environment Day is “Land Restoration, Desertification and Drought Resilience highlighting the urgent need to revive damaged ecosystems around the world. This year we celebrated Environment Day as a one-day seminar on contemporary challenges in the environment and its conservation strategies by Prof. M. A. Suraj, Former HOD, Postgraduate and Research Department of Botany, S.N.College, Nattika. The session was inaugurated by Dr. N. S. Rajendran, Principal, S. N. College, Alathur, and a welcome address was given by Dr. M. Binumol, HOD, Department of Environment and Water Management, S. N. College, Alathur.
