The Department of Microbiology, Sree Narayana College, Alathur, affiliated with the University of Calicut, organized an Extension Activity on “Air Quality Analysis” from October 13 to 16, 2025. The program was conducted as part of the department’s outreach initiatives to promote environmental awareness and scientific learning among students.
The activity targeted school and college students, aiming to educate them about the importance of monitoring air quality and understanding the microbial content in the environment. Through hands-on sessions and demonstrations, participants were introduced to methods of air sampling, microbial culture techniques, and interpretation of results.
The program provided valuable insights into how microorganisms serve as bioindicators of air pollution and how such studies contribute to public health and environmental sustainability.
The initiative reflected the department’s commitment to community engagement and environmental education, in line with the college’s IQAC objectives and vision for sustainable development.
