Alathur, Sept. 17, 2025:
The second day of the Kerala Tribal Congress 2025, hosted by Sree Narayana College, Alathur, in collaboration with KIRTADS and the UNESCO Chair on Indigenous Cultural Heritage and Sustainable Development, focused on in-depth academic discussions, paper presentations, and cultural expressions centered around tribal health and food systems.
The day began with an invited talk (9:00–10:30 AM) that set the tone for the sessions. This was followed by a series of panel discussions on critical themes such as disease susceptibility, nutritional challenges, and the role of traditional foods in sustainable health.
A key highlight was the conversation session (11:30–12:30 PM), which brought together experts, tribal representatives, and academicians to exchange perspectives on indigenous food knowledge and resilience.
Post-lunch sessions featured parallel panel discussions (12:30–3:30 PM) covering diverse topics:
The day concluded with another panel discussion (3:30–4:30 PM) that explored tribal contributions to knowledge and society, moderated by senior researchers and tribal community representatives.
The sessions provided a platform for students, researchers, and tribal community members to share experiences, research findings, and cultural wisdom, reinforcing the conference’s vision of blending traditional knowledge with modern scientific inquiry.
