Alathur, Sept. 18, 2025:
The Kerala Tribal Congress 2025, organized by Sree Narayana College, Alathur in collaboration with KIRTADS and the UNESCO Chair on Indigenous Cultural Heritage and Sustainable Development, concluded today with meaningful discussions and reflections on tribal health, traditional food systems, and sustainable development.
The third day began with an Open House (9:30–11:30 AM), where participants, including students, researchers, and tribal representatives, engaged in interactive exchanges on the outcomes of the three-day deliberations. This session provided a platform for young scholars and community voices to share insights on disease susceptibility, food security, and indigenous knowledge preservation.
The conference culminated with a Valedictory Function (11:30–12:30 PM). Dignitaries including Smt. Praveena Vijayan (Principal, SN College, Alathur), Dr. S. Bindu (Director, KIRTADS), Dr. Araty Sasikumar, Dr. Jiju K.R., Dr. Soumya C.S., Dr. S. Dhiva, Dr. Indu Menon, and Dr. Praseeja Cheruparambath addressed the gathering. They highlighted the need for integrating tribal traditions into modern scientific approaches and reaffirmed the importance of community-centered research.
The event concluded with the National Anthem, marking the close of three days of rich academic sessions, cultural expressions, and collaborative dialogues. Selected research papers presented at the conference will be published in a special ISBN volume, ensuring lasting academic contribution.
