



Association Day Celebrated by the Department of Zoology
Alathur: The Department of Zoology, Sree Narayana College, Alathur, celebrated its Association Day with great enthusiasm and academic spirit. The programme was organized with the objective of strengthening departmental unity, encouraging student participation, and fostering interest in zoological sciences beyond the classroom.
The event was inaugurated by the Mrs. Praveena Vijayan, Principal -incharge who delivered the presidential address highlighting the academic achievements, research initiatives, extension activities, and student accomplishments of the department during the academic year. Dr. S Dhiva IQAC Coordinator and Dr. S. Sowmya PTA Secretary felicitated the programme.
Dr. Shaji C. P. Conservation Biologist & Fish Taxonomist rendered a talk on ‘Evolution of Fishes’. The address also emphasized the importance of scientific temper, environmental awareness, and ethical responsibility among students of life sciences.
Faculty members of the department delivered brief addresses, motivating students to actively engage in research, seminars, field studies, and co-curricular activities. They also appreciated the students for their involvement in academic and outreach programmes conducted by the department.
As part of the Association Day celebrations, various student-led activities such as seminars, quiz competitions, poster presentations, cultural programmes, and interactive sessions were organized. These activities provided a platform for students to showcase their talents, creativity, and subject knowledge while promoting teamwork and leadership skills.
Meritorious students and achievers in academics and extracurricular activities were honoured during the programme, which served as a source of inspiration for the entire student community. The programme witnessed active participation from undergraduate and postgraduate students, research scholars, and faculty members.
The Association Day concluded with a vote of thanks, acknowledging the efforts of the organizing committee, faculty members, and students for making the event a meaningful and memorable one. The celebration reflected the department’s commitment to holistic education, academic excellence, and the overall development of students.
