The students and teachers of the Department of Zoology, Sree Narayana College, Alathur, conducted an institutional visit to Silkmark, India, Palakkad, under the guidance of Dr. Arathy Sasikumar, Head of the Department.
The visit aimed to provide students with practical exposure to the processes involved in silk production, including cocoon cultivation, silk reeling, and quality marking under the Silkmark certification system. The session offered valuable insights into the biological, economic, and environmental aspects of sericulture.
Students had the opportunity to interact with experts from the organization and gain hands-on understanding of the significance of natural fibres and their role in sustainable industries.
The Department expressed gratitude to Dr. Arathy Sasikumar for her initiative in organizing the educational visit, which effectively bridged classroom learning with real-world applications.
