BRIDGE COURSE
COMPUTER APPLICATION
The course provides enough understanding of computer fundamentals, MS Excel, and SPSS. Students learn basic computing concepts, data entry, manipulation, and analysis in Excel and statistical analysis techniques using SPSS.
MICROBIOLOGY
Scope and history of Microbiology, spontaneous generation vs. biogenesis.Contributions of the following scientists in various areas of Microbiology – Anton van Leeuwenhoek, Joseph Lister, Paul Ehrlich, Edward Jenner, Louis Pasteur, Robert Koch, Martinus W. Beijerinck, Sergei N. Winogradsky, Alexander Fleming, Selman A. Waksman. Beneficial and harmful microbes.
BIOCHEMISTRY
Nucleic acids – the structure of purines, pyrimidines, nucleocides, nucleotides ATP and cAMP. RNA – structure, and types, Watson and Crick model.
Bridge course report with Time Table
In I Year B.Sc Microbiology (2025-2026) batch, there are total of 24 students. After the orientation class and from the general feedback, it has been found that the many of the students are less exposed to Computer application, Microbiology, Biochemistry because most of the students belong to Biology background. So the Department decided to conduct bridge courses for all the students to improve their understanding towards COMPUTER APPLICATION, MICROBIOLOGY, BIOCHEMISTRY. The classes were conducted on 22/09/2025 to 26/09/2025 . All the students were present in the class during the course. Course co-coordinators were Mrs. SAFNA K (Guest Lecturer in computer application), Mrs.NITHYA JAYAN (Assistant Professor in Microbiology), Dr. RAJENDRAN N S (Assistant Professor in Biochemistry).
